Robert Bush Obituary

Bush, Robert Holbrook
September 17, 1930 - August 09, 2010
Robert Holbrook Bush, a lifelong resident of San Fernando Valley, passed away in his sleep August 9, 2010. Bob was born September 17, 1930 in Hollywood, attended Rio Vista Elementary & North Hollywood High before serving in the US Army from Aug 1951 through Aug 1953 during the Korean conflict. Upon his return he continued his education at Valley College in Van Nuys, Pierce College in Woodland Hills and eventually earned a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration at Cal State University, Northridge in 1973. Bob worked in several fields including initially the aero space industry as a mechanical engineer and later as an auditor for the California Board of Equalization.

He spent most of his adult life pursuing further education in his many areas of interest, especially music, foreign languages, and physical fitness. His home was filled with various musical instruments, physical fitness equipment, and he was surrounded by an extensive library reflecting his inquiring nature and pursuit of knowledge. Bob was an accomplished pianist early in life and this passion continued in later years evolving into an ability to play many diverse musical instruments including the organ, keyboard, guitar, ukulele, harmonica, and flute.

Bob was a quiet person, well read, reflective and studious. However, he was also an active member of the Los Angeles Theater Organ Society (LATOS), participated on the Board of Directors of the Homeowners Association where he lived and was dedicated to a physical fitness workout regime. He was indeed a man of many interests, becoming a confirmed bachelor after a few early romances and so remained single and had no children.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Willis H Bush and Pearl D Erbes both of San Fernando Valley, aunts Virginia D Stacy of Los Angeles and Corinne O Lea of Santa Cruz, CA, and cousin Richard D Lea of Modesto. He is survived by first cousins Mary P Carli of Phoenix, AZ, Donald J Lea of Santa Cruz and Gary S Lea of San Ramon and several second cousins scattered throughout the western United States.

Bob will be sorely missed by his family and friends especially among some of the members of LATOS and neighbors within the Home Owners Association where he lived since 1976. His few remaining heirs have many fond memories during the 40's when the entire extended family all lived in the North Hollywood area and spent all holidays and special events together. Service and interment will be private as he wished. Bob was laid to rest along with his mother and grandfather in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
