Sarah SELWYN

SELWYN, Sarah Sept. 7, 1918-Nov. 12, 2010 Beloved mother and grandmother, Sarah passed away peacefully in Los Angeles from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her daughter Myrna Morganstern (Russell Frackman), granddaughter Abby Frackman and grandson Steven Frackman. Born in Chicago to Jacob and Adele Fisher, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry Selwyn in 1973 and by her brothers Howard, Martin and Sidney Fisher. Fiercely independent until her health began to fail, Sarah excelled at all of her endeavors: the restaurant business, managing bookstores in Las Vegas, where she lived from 1960 to 1974, and in her work at hospitals in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, where she lived for the past 36 years. She was particularly proud of her job as administrative secretary at the former hospice unit at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Among her many interests she enjoyed reading, baking, and the music of Chopin. She derived the greatest pleasure from her cherished grandchildren and granddog Teddy.
Sarah had a generous heart and an indomitable spirit that will be missed and remembered by her family and friends. Sarah's family wishes to thank Marilyn Feldman, R.N., and Bernadette Lucas, R.N., for their unfailing care and compassion throughout the course of Sarah's illness.
