Carolyn Moore Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 3, 2009.
Moore, Carolyn Rose
Passed away June 18 just shy of her 80th birthday. The former Carolyn Rose Mohr from Kokomo, IN, went to the Pasadena Playhouse in 1947 where she met her future husband, Jack Moore aka Alvy Moore who became popular as Hank Kimball in the series "Green Acres". They married in 1950 and traveled with the National touring company of "Mr. Roberts" before settling in Los Angeles to start their family. Carolyn continued to be involved in acting, doing dinner theater and various church productions. For over 50 years she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a women's sorority group that raises money for charity, and was thrilled to receive the "International Award of Distinction" the highest honor that they bestow on active members, in 2008. She also was a dedicated member and treasurer for the "Motion Picture Mothers" for over 30 years. The organization, started in 1939 by women whose children work in the film industry, raises money to better the lives of those who live in the Motion Picture Country House. She enjoyed cooking, reading, playing games and was a devoted Christian. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and GG and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvy in 1997 and their daughter Janet in 2000. She is survived by her daughter Alyson, son Barry, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Donations may be made to the Motion Picture Mothers, Inc., 13215 Margate St, Sherman Oaks, CA 91401. Memorial services will be on July 18 at 3pm at the First Christian Church of North Hollywood, 4390 Colfax Ave, Studio City, CA 91604.

I was truly blessed to have known Carolyn Moore, "MOM". I worked with Alyson on the foley stage, and if you knew Alyson, then you would know Carolyn - the two of them are best friends. Carolyn was a beautiful person inside and out. She always had a kind word for me and my family.I began calling her mom almost instantly after getting to know her. Always had a great smile on her face, and wonderful sense of humor, she had a great laugh. Alyson, you are blessed to have had your mother and really got to know her and shared quality time with her. My family and I will truly miss Carolyn. Our prayers are with Alyson and her family.

I babysat Janet & Alyson, became Carolyn's daughter-in-law for 13 years and remained friends with her through the years. I so much enjoyed hearing her stories of the good old days and feel blessed that I was able to be in her life till the end. Her positive attitude and grace taught me to be a better person....thank you so much Carolyn, I will miss you.

I was in her class at the Pasadena Playhouse and remember her and Jack very well. So sad! I'm 83 myself and, so far, in exceptional health. Pat Franck Sheffield

A bright light in my life has been extinguished, but it shines in the night sky.

For parting is such sweet sorrow.
