Mike Zimring a Theatrical agent who's 40+ year covered all facets of the entertainment industry has died at the age of 94. Coming from humble beginnings in Iowa Mike came to Hollywood in 1932 to pursue an acting career. After graduating from the Pasadena Community Playhouse in 1936 he became a successful radio actor, staring in numerous productions including; Lux Radio Theatre, Calling all Cars and Wings of Destiny. Drafted into the Army in 1941 he became a commander of USO forces in the European theatre bringing quality entrainment to thousands of GI's across western Europe.
Mike joined the William Morris Agency in 1948 as a secretary to the famous agent Sam Weisbord, working his way through the ranks he caught the eye of WMA chief Abe Lastfogel. Lastfogle promoted him to a full agent in 1950. He built his career into a four decade juggernaut and came to represent some of the biggest names in Hollywood. After being promoted to head of the Literary Department, he was instrumental in putting together some of the most respected pictures of the period including Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad world and many others. His unique tough but personal style, and unique ability to understand each client's unque personality's created not only long term clients but lifelong friends.
After leaving WMA, Mike started his own successful agency. Mike retired in 1990 to care for his ailing wife, Actress and singer Connie Russell who passed away in December 1990. He is survived by 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park Tuesday March 1 at 11am
