Albert Simonds

Simonds, Albert Carnahan February 18, 2012 Albert Carnahan Simonds age 89, passed away on February 18, 2012 at home in Montecito, California. He was born and raised in Redlands, California, parents Priscilla Alden Krusi and James Warner Simonds. He attended the Webb School and graduated from Stanford University where he was a member of the Zeta Psi Fraternity. He was a naval officer and aviator during World War II. As an insurance broker he founded the firm Arroyo Insurance Services, Inc. in 1983. He raised his family in the Pasadena/San Marino area where he was active in community service and with his family enjoyed the social activities of the Valley Hunt Club. He was an accomplished sailor and served as an officer and director of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club and the Los Angeles Yacht Club. He was a past member of the California Club and Los Angeles Rotary Club. He was involved in the re-opening of the Santa Catalina Island School for Boys in 1964 and served on the board of trustees for many years. He was married to Laura Supple Simonds (deceased) with whom he raised 3 children; James W Simonds (Carmelette), Frederic A. Simonds (Georgia) and Margaret S Jorgensen (Doug). In addition to his children and grandchildren, he leaves his loving wife, Hoppie Harpham Simonds of Montecito. Dad was a giving man with an open heart and an ear to lend. He was a raconteur, known for his humor and interest in others. He will be deeply missed. At his request, there will be no memorial service.
