Lucille Walder Burkenheim Obituary

Lucille "Wyn" Walder Burkenheim June 18, 1915 - June 15, 2012 Lucille "Wyn" Walder Burkenheim was born in Chicago on June 18, 1915. After moving to Los Angeles, she graduated UCLA as journalism major and entered the entertainment industry. She aspired to be a singer but, when she was about to perform at the Coconut Grove, her dad pulled her from the stage. But she didn't give up entertainment. She and her first husband, Maurice Walder wrote several songs including "Gee But I am Lonesome Tonight." Since she couldn't perform herself she would help others and became a talent agent and publicist. She represented George Burns and many others including her second husband, Judge Louis Edelberg. She became one of the innovators of Product Placement, by convincing television game shows to showcase her client's products. Next she turned her attention to writing. She was a featured writer in the first issue of Playgirl, she consulted on MASH and wrote for Bewitched and Golden Girls. Meanwhile she was active in the Tarzana Lodge of B'nai B'rith, the Hope Foundation and was a member of The Writers Guild of America, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. After her retirement she began hosting her own cable program, "Wyn Walder's A Better World". She interviewed authors, actors, politicians, and other people she found interesting. Her show was broadcast for over 20 years and can now be seen around the world. She married Jack Burkenheim in May, 2010 and became the loving step mother to Ken and Lillian and their spouses Cynthia and Bruce. She was also a step grandmother and great grandmother; they lived happily in North Hollywood. Services will be held at Mount Sinai Memorial Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 3 p.m.
