Betty Senter Obituary

May 29, 1924 - April 18, 2014 Betty Senter (Calderon) Betty....A beautiful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother peacefully and comfortably surrounded by the love of her family traveled on to Heaven Friday morning...she was a kind, thoughtful, gracious lady who was extremely generous and philanthropic and will be missed by her family and friends. Betty was the daughter of Morris and Mollie Calderon and the sister of Estelle Berger, Albert Calderon, Rochelle Friedman and Sol Calderon. She was born in New York City.....lived in Los Angeles from the age of six months old where she spent her entire life. Briefly after graduation from Washington High school, Betty met and married the love of her life, Louis Senter who was serving in the US Navy during WWII. They would have celebrated their 70th anniversary November 25, 2014. Betty and Louis built Ansen Automotive Engineering into one of the leading High Performance Automotive Manufacturers in the country. Betty founded the Credit Managers Association for the High Performance/Hot Rod Manufacturers Industry which later evolved into SEMA....Speed Equipment Manufacturers Association....one of our country's leading Associations. Betty developed and distributed a comprehensive catalog containing hundreds of products Ansen Automotive Engineering manufactured which helped to grow the company into a major player in the Automotive Industry. As Ansen developed into a leading industry company, they decided to safe guard Betty's health and sell their company to Whittaker Corp....where at the time of sale she was the Chief Financial Officer. As a couple they traveled the world multiple times and visited her ancestral homeland of Israel. Betty and Lou resided in Encino and enjoyed their second home in Lake Arrowhead which they generously shared with family and friends. Betty gave the extended family, as one of her final gifts, an extensive photo compendium of the family and their life together...a beautiful gift to be treasured. Betty and Louis have one child, Marsha Senter Scully and son in law, Rodney Scully. granddaughter Lindsey Scully, grandson, Shane Scully and wife Roxanne Scully and great granddaughters, Brooke and Hannah Scully and sister Estelle Berger. A memorial celebration of Betty's life will be announced by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Skirball Hospice, Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging, www.skirballhospice.org or the American Cancer Society.

My husband and I will always cherish the wonderful memories of time spent with Betty and her family over the last thirty three years. My husband celebrated with Betty and Louis as one of the groomsmen at Marsha and Rodney's wedding - and what a grand event that was as Betty orchestrated every detail with style and elegance. I will always admire Betty for her keen perception as a very smart business woman, and equally so for the love she shared with her family. She adored her beautiful daughter Marsha and was so very proud of her in every way. Betty will be missed by so many...but her warm smile and sparkling eyes will forever remain in our hearts - and her Spirit will live never leave us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marsha, Rodney, Louis and all the family. With love...
