Ellsworth Roston Obituary

December 24, 1922 - May 22, 2014
At 91 years, Ellie passed away from natural causes. He was predeceased, by his cherished and devoted wife of 64 years, Lois. He is survived by his children; Robert Roston, Dr. Warren Roston (Alissa), Janet Roston (Barry Weiss) and Neal Roston. He was grandfather Poppa to Matt Roston, Sam Roston, David Roston, Leah Roston, Jonathan Weiss, Steven Roston, Sarah Roston and Laura Roston. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Sidney, Martin and Maxwell; and beloved by many nieces and nephews.
Ellie was the admired patriarch of the extended Roston family. Born to struggling immigrant parents in New Haven, all four brothers graduated from Yale. After earning an engineering degree, he graduated Yale Law School and began his outstanding career as a patent attorney. After working for Bendix Corp. in Detroit, he and Lois moved to Los Angeles where he opened his private practice. His patent work ranged from garbage trucks and pop-top cans to toys, microchips/software and City of Hope pharmaceuticals. He was a past president and loyal Pillar of Temple Emanuel, Beverly Hills. He loved to travel, read non-fiction history, research the stock market, swim, play tennis and watch the old LA Rams, the Dodgers and Lakers. The family sincerely thanks Ray Lerma, Romeo Syquia and Amory Arcilla for their years of dedicated caregiving.
A memorial service will be held at Temple Emanuel on Tuesday, June 3 at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution in his name to Temple Emanuel or The Alzheimer's Association, alz.org.
