James Fizzolio Obituary

September 12, 1919 - August 10, 2015 James Michael Fizzolio passed away surrounded by his family on August 10, 2015, in Westlake Village, CA. Born September 12, 1919, in Lodi, New Jersey, James was a graduate of Wesleyan University and Yale Law School, and he began a distinguished career as an attorney on Wall Street. He later moved to Southern California where he and his twin brother, Tom, opened the firm Fizzolio and Fizzolio in North Hollywood, California, where he practiced for more than 20 years. Later, he was a partner in the law firm Fizzolio & McLeod. He was a member of the Los Angeles Bar Association, Unico, and the San Fernando Bar Association where he was recently honored for more than 50 years of service. His family and friends admired Jim for his positive outlook, generosity, honesty and his diligent work effort. He never backed down from a challenge and knew how to enjoy the simple things in life whether it was a sunset, an early morning game of golf, or listening to classical music. He cherished his family and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His contagious laugh, kindness, and compassion will never be forgotten and he will be dearly missed. Jim was a loving husband to his wife Joyce who passed away in 2004. He is survived by his children, Cecile Butters, Carolyn Trocino and Laura Pistotnik, grandchildren Jamie Butters, Carly Butters, Kendra Butters, Nicole Pistotnik and Brett Pistotnik. Sons in Law Aaron Butters and Michael Trocino. Rosary services will be held Wednesday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary in Westlake Village, CA. The funeral service will be at Oakwood Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m.

There is no one I know who did not love my father. If you can live a life that generates that kind of love, you are blessed. Everyone loved Jim.

For some reason today this man was on my mind, and he was a wonderful person. I will never forget him being so positive and up lifting every time i got up and sang afterwards he always said I have a gift and to never give up singing. His wife Joyce trained me from 9 years old until I was 18 years old and these two will always be in my memories, Rest in peace and I didn't know you had left in 2015 until today. love the memory photos of you and your girls, and Carolyn you look like your mother, I will never forget those faces. i'm so sorry for your loss, even if it's been 8 years. my mother died 3 years ago Dorothy Russell and I know this grief.
God bless and Take care ,

I wanted tio call him today and was saddened to see "Deceased" on the State Bar web page. I was co-counsel with James in a 2002 - 2004 case. What a jewel to work with. I particularly enjoyed his stories about law practice in New York and Los Angeles in the late 40s and early 50s. He was a personal friend of Mildred Lille, one of the first female judges on a major court. She was seriously considered for appointment to the Supreme Court by Nixon (another California lawyer), as I recall. I live in Westlake Village and did not hear about James's passing. I am deeply saddened.

Jim: You were a fabulous counselor and friend. I'll always remember having lunch with you at that little Italian Restaurant down the block in Sherman Oaks. So many laughs!! May God keep you and bless you many times over!

Jim was the patriarch of our family who was always held out as an example of what we should achieve. Not only was Jim well educated and an accomplished lawyer, but as Ann and I got to know him personally, he was a man of great character. It was an honor to get to know him.
