LILLIAN NIVETTE Obituary

Born, July 8, 1921 in Coffee Springs, Alabama. Entered into rest January 8, 2011. Dee passed away peacefully in the home of her daughter surrounded by family, friends, and love. She was number two of 11 children born to Daniel Lee and Viola Hayes Smith.

After graduating from High School she managed 5 and dime stores in Alabama but soon decided to travel and hitched a ride with her father's cousins and came out to California. After a short marriage to James Mills, she met Roland "Roy" Nivette in San Francisco and they were married in 1953. They moved to Burbank in 1957 where she lived over 50 years. The marriage to Roy produced two children, Lori Dee and Roland Charles. They were the light of her life.

After her divorce from Roy, she went to work at ITT General Controls in Glendale with her friend Agnes where she became a Lead Lady. After retirement, she enjoyed her grandchildren, visiting relatives in the South, family reunions, and doing crossword puzzles. She also never turned down a request from a neighbor who needed a ride to the store or the Doctor- in her 1979 Chevy Camaro!

Survived by her loving daughter, Lori Fox (Jim); grandson, Nicholas Nivette (Nicole); granddaughter, Amy Nivette; and great grandson, Troy. Also survived by seven sisters and brothers, Mary Ruth, James Daniel, Juanita Rachel, Ola Maycelle, Evie Colleen, Bennie Ross, Rebecca Annette, their spouses, and countless nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son, Roland Charles; her parents; sisters, Bethany Pauline and Alice Gerone; and brother, Lee Smith, Jr. A very special thank you to her care-givers, Elizabeth and Madeline, who without their special love, dedication and friendship we could not have done without!

Graveside services to be held Thursday, January 13, 2011, 11:30 a.m., at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood.

It is when our Mom's leave us that we realize just how incredible they were. When my mom passed she told me when ever I felt really alone that all I had to do was look down and I would see the coins she was tossing down to say hello
