Born November 22, 1918. Passed away January 8, 2011 at Jace Guest Home in Chino after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She grew up in San Dimas, and married Ward Hanawalt on August 25th, 1940. She was a long-time resident of La Verne. She had three children: Kathy, Virginia, and Robert. She attended UC Berkeley and Chaffey College and completed her bachelors and masters degrees from La Verne College. She taught and was a reading specialist in the Azusa School District for 22 years. Her activities were gardening, bridge, square and round dancing. She served two terms as president of the San Dimas Women's Club. Visitation will be at Todd Memorial Chapel in Pomona on Thursday, January 13th between 4:00 and 8:00 pm. Services will be held at Ramona Avenue Christian Church in La Verne on Friday January 14th at 11:00. Interment will be at La Verne Cemetery at 1:00.
