Gwendolyn Magwood Obituary

MAGWOOD-Gwendolyn Hedges Johnson Magwood, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2010 at Huntington Memorial Hospital with her son Eric by her side. Afffectionately known as Gwen was born February 22, 1928, in Queens, New York. Gwen moved to California in 1949 and was employeed from 1957 to 1990 by the Los Angeles Unified School District receiving various awards and commendation, while serving as an outstanding classroom teacher, Miller-Unruh teacher, reading specialist, Early Childhood coordinator and resource specialist. Gwen is survived by her son Eric Stuart Johnson, her brother Charles L. Hedges, cousins Gertrude "Trudy" Haynes Pinder, Walter, Roswitha, James and Betty Damiels, Erwin Daniels and many friends. A memorial service will be held at First AME Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011, 1700 N. Raymond Ave. Pasadena, Ca. 91103. 626-798-0503.
