jane and I worked together at Bernese Auction Rescue Coalition. She was a voice of reason on the board of trustees and as the then treasurer, I deeply appreciated her support when we had to make hard decisions. When I fostered an auction puppy that was seriously ill, later discovered to have IHPSS, Jane and I grew even closer trying to get Berner Breeders to donate DNA of affected litters to isolate the gene causing the defect in the breed. Not everyone wants to reveal these things in their dogs -- Jane offered me a sounding board to vent my frustrations about data collection and to talk about this defect in a dog that I was caring for. I miss her wise, calm ways.

Jane was a teen-ager when I last saw her. It was a shock to see her photo and obituary in the online Tribune. Betty and Ted & Em, you have my sympathy and prayers.

Jane or Janie as we called her in school, will always be remembered as a funny and caring person. I will remember her warm smile.
