Luis Sauceda Obituary

Luis "Chapo" Sauceda, age 87, of Anthony, NM entered into eternal life on April 2, 2015. He was born in Chamberino, NM to Luis Jr. and Marcos Marquez Sauceda on April 30, 1927. "Chapo" as he was fondly known to his family and friends served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He retired as a truck driver and a lifetime farmer. Mr. Saucedo was known for his pool shooting. He was a devoted catholic and a communicant of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Anthony, NM.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and dear friend. His passions in life were his family and his farm.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carmen GardeaSauceda; his son, Tony and two daughters, Martha Diaz and Irma Sauceda. Survivors include his son Jose Luis Sauceda (Pauline); daughter, Cookie Saueda (Ziki) all of Anthony, NM. Other survivors include his grandchildren, Mario, Danny and Melissa Diaz, Marc and Michael Sauceda; his great grandchildren, Isaiah, Tony, Julian and Marcel.
Visitation for Mr. Sauceda will begin at 6 PM Monday, April 13, 2015 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Avenue where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 10 AM Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in the same church with Reverend Andres Alava officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Anthony Cemetery with military honors accorded by a New Mexico Army National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League – El Perro Diablo Detachment.
Serving as casket bearers will be Marco Diaz, Marc and Michael Sauceda, Ziki Ramirez, Jaime Medina and Hector Soliz. Honorary bearers will be Danny Diaz and Mike Orozco.
The Family would like to extend special thanks to his caregiver Hector who was so gentle and compassionate with our father, he made it possible for him to stay in the farm which was his passion.

Cookie,
Sending you prayers at this time in need. Your dad was a good, funny man. He remembered my mom fondly and she remembers him as a humble good man. The times I did get to speak with him he was so proud of his service in the military, family and farm.
