William Simone Obituary

LEBANON William Simone, a local photographer and business owner, died Tuesday night, May 15, 2012, in Lebanon. He was 56. Simone was born William Carmen Simone on May 15, 1956, in Lebanon city, to parents, William and Catherine Simone. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1974, lettering in football, while developing his interests in the field of photography. His business, Simone Associates, Inc., is based in downtown Lebanon, and specializes in photography, video, and sound productions used in advertising illustration. Simone himself was a Master Photographer and Cinematographer. His work truly was his life, and he enjoyed every bit of it - every second, every picture. With years of experience manipulating light, Simone was able to craft beautiful images, as he poured all of himself into each job and each project for each client with whom he worked. The images he created would have been used to sell things of all sorts, gracing the pages of magazines, billboards, and websites. His business now survives him, but is armed with a staff of skilled individuals who have all been privileged enough to learn from and work with a great photographer and an even better person. Outside of his work life, Bill, as his friends and family called him, was a consummate family man. He was a wonderful father to his two children and an even better grandfather. Zachary, 30, and Emily 27, both of Lebanon, are his only children. Their two boys, Cameron and Anthony, 6 and 2, were Bill's only grandchildren. They love their grandfather and lovingly referred to him as his 'grandpa' and family name of 'Dodo'. In addition to spending time with his family, Bill enjoyed many other activities and things. He loved to work on Land Rovers. He owned two classic Land Rover trucks, one that he rebuilt completely himself, and took pride in their care. Even more than working on them, he enjoyed taking them off road. He was a member of a Land Rover Off Road Club, and loved to go on club rides and outings. Bill also enjoyed being around and spending time with his wife, Pammi, who is also a photographer. Bill enjoyed their bike rides and trips to their cabin upstate. He and Pammi were husband and wife, best friends, and co-workers, working together on a daily basis at the studio. Bill and Pammi together would enjoy their time with the grandchildren and having sleepovers at any chance they could get. Bill is survived by his mother, Catherine Simone (father, William, is deceased); his two children, Zachary and Emily, and their children, Cameron and Anthony, all of Lebanon. He is additionally survived by his sister, Ninetta Dickerson, wife of Brian Dickerson of Philadelphia, and their two children, Colin and Sarah of Boston, and New York City, respectively. In addition to the immediate family, Bill is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews from Lebanon and all over the country. Bill will also be missed by the many, many, friends and clients with whom he worked and with whom he so enjoyed his time and relationships. Funeral Mass Saturday morning 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 2 N. 8th St., Lebanon 17046. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Lebanon Valley Rails to Trails, P.O. Box 2043, Cleona, PA 17042; or Relay For Life, c/o Zachary Simone, 845 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA 17042. Bill...I believe there is a connection between the spiritual world where you reside and the physical world in which I currently dwell. I beleive that you know, somehow, that all these people who have posted on this guest book, as well as myriad others who did not but still grieve your loss, all appreciate who you were while in the physical world and what you gave to each of them. I will no longer sponser this guest book, but your memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew you.

I am so saddened to hear that Bill is no longer here. He was my employer for a bit when the store was out front. I enjoyed working for him - one day he came out front and wanted to see my hands (I have the ugliest hands imaginable)because he needed a 'hand' model, needless to say upon inspection - he smiled and made an acerbic comment, and left me wrap some fake presents for whatever he was shooting that day. Awesome sense of sarcastic humor and a nice guy to boot. He also had the best Halloween parties, ever. Rest in peace

I just learned of his passing. I had met him through his daughter Emily many times. As a past friend of Emily, I know what a devoted father and grandfather he was! He definitely was passionate about his art but also lived his passion for his family!

Bill stopped by my studio one day in San Francisco. It was apparent to me that he was passionate about his work, and his life. It was a very shot encounter but one I will not forget.

I only now learned of Bill's passing. Like many others, I met Bill and Pammi through bike riding. Bill was a great guy and a lot of fun to ride with. Although I lost touch with Bill after I moved from the area, I think of him and that group often. I will miss him greatly.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Bill. He was a gifted person I always read about but never got the opportunity to meet. I am a film composer and found his cinematography work to be superb. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Pammi and all of his family and friends. Until we're all together again...

I was lucky to meet Bill as part of a cycling group from Hershey. He was always fun to be around. The trip to Belgium that he organized is memory that I'll always cherish. Our prayers go out to Pammi and his family.

I met Bill riding bicycle with the Cagnalia group from Hershey. What a fun guy, and great rider to be around. He organized a great trip to Belgium in 2002 which is still the highlight bicycle trip of my life. I was privileged to be a part of Bill's life.

I met Bill when he was restoring his Land Rover and he would come in for parts. He always had a list for me and sometimes he wondered if it was worth fixing it up. I enjoyed seeing him come into the store as he progressed on his project. I felt we became friends. I thought of him recently as I was ordering parts for another customer with a Land Rover and I thought of Bill as I had not seen him since he restored the Land Rover a few years ago. I learned this week of his passing and I will miss him.

Still loved, still missed and very dear.

Although it has been maybe 15 years or so since I have seen Bill, whenever I would hear the "Spin Doctors" song little miss can't be wrong, I always would think of him, doing a shoot and hearing it over and over again.
Next time I hear it it will be with a heavy heart. He was the best, and always pulled the best out of his clients.
Hearing of his passing makes us all pause and see what is truly important in our lives as he had in his.

It saddens my heart to hear of Bill's passing.
Bill was a true master of his craft, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was a friend of the camera club for more than 25 years, and went out of his way on numerous occasions to do studio tours, programs and hosting events for the club. He was always friendly and eager to help other photographers understand the art the he knew so well, and his passion for photography was very contagious to those around him.
He was an artist in every sense of the word, and we are all suffering a great loss in his passing.

One day while in his studio, Bill was photographing me for some professional marketing material; it was far from glamorous as I was wearing a turtle neck and suit jacket. Then the magic began. With every click of his camera I began to feel more and more like the super model Tyra Banks - He pulled it right out of me! Bill was truly a Master Photographer. His talents will be sorely missed.

To Pammi, Emily, Zack, Mrs. Simone and Ninetta,

I join so many people who were touched by your Bill. There's a saying in these rural parts: "I just think it can't be." I still have an email from Bill - not very long ago - excited to venture onto the big time of a feature film based on the documentary The Blue Eyed Six, which he edited with me. He devoted almost every Saturday for nearly a whole year. And everyone of you made me feel like family. I will never forget you and never forget my friend, Bill. And now, I just think it can't be. But, what can-be, will be a movie dedicated to his memory.
