John Hambright Obituary

John W. Hambright MT. GRETNA John W. Hambright, 82, died at his home on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Eckert. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late George J., and Maude Wolf Hambright. John graduated from Yale University in 1952. He served in the United States Army as Sergeant First Class during the Korean War. He was the owner of Groff & Wolf until he retired in 1980, and then worked as a Salesperson for Northeast Uniform Services from 1981-2012. A member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, he just retired as a Board Member of Mt. Gretna Borough Council. He was also a Committee Member of Mt. Gretna Arts Council, Past President of Mt. Gretna Men's Club, and a former member of Lancaster Rotary Club. He enjoyed socializing, spending time in the sun at the beach or lake, and especially time in his garden. John is survived by his daughter, Lynn Hambright of Chester Springs. He was preceded in death by his son, John "Stu" Hambright, and a sister, Kate Sutcliffe. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John's Celebration of Life Memorial Service at The Groffs Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 528 W. Orange St., Lancaster (corner of W. Orange and Pine Sts.), 17603 (717-394-5300) on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Bucy officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service. A private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's name may be made to the Mt. Gretna Fire Company, P.O. Box 177, Mt. Gretna, PA 17064. Online condolences may be posted on our Web site: www.thegroffs.com
