Violet Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 20, 2006.
ANDERSON-Violet Agnes (May 16, 1922 July 16, 2006) Violet was born in the Lawson District to George and Maybelle Lehman. She received her schooling at Riverhurst. She married Ed Anderson on July 29, 1942. They made their first home south of Riverhurst in the hills and in 1951 moved into Riverhurst. Ed and Violet took up residence at Heritage Towers in Swift Current in March of 1996 where she made many valuable friends. Mom was able to maintain quality of life until her passing. Violet was active in the Riverhurst Band Auxiliary, the Rink Auxiliary, Girl Guide Movement as a guide, leader and District Commissioner. Mom was a great source of information for Riverhurst 1991 Homecoming. She spent many hours at her crocheting hobby and each of her nine children were given a beautiful afghan of her works. She was an avid reader keeping up on world events and could converse on almost any subject. You would find her with a word search book and a dictionary nearby because there was no sense finding a word if you didn't know the meaning. She was predeceased by her mother, half brother, step-mother, father, her husband Ed of 56 years and four grandchildren; Donna, Bobbie-lee, Gregory and Tanys. She leaves to mourn her nine children: Gary (Norma) Anderson, Kay (Dave) Archibald, Marie (Al) Summers, Bob Anderson, Ken (Linda) Anderson, Lenora (Keith) Weinbender, David (Lucy) Anderson, Janice (Terry) Mackow, Dan (Phylis) Anderson, 20 grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren and 1 sister Jeanne and half sister Maureen and her SPECIAL friends from the Riverhurst District and the Heritage Towers in Swift Current. A celebration of life service was held on Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverhurst Community Hall with Myrna Briggs Enns officiating. The pallbearers were: Trevor Archibald, Brent Anderson, Kurtis Mackow, Jared Mackow, Kyle Mackow, Justin Anderson, Austin Anderson, Reid Anderson and Robin Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were all the rest of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The organist was Lorne Jackson and the ushers were, Margaret McIvor and Rene Bell. At Mom's request cremation will follow the service and her cremated remains will be placed at the Riverhurst Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Marina Community Centre, payable to: Palliser Regional Park, Riverhurst, SK S0H 3P0.
