Robert PICKERING Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Robert (Bob) Pickering "Peewee" passed away peacefully at the age of 82 years. Bob was born in Wilcox, Saskatchewan and was a grain farmer for 40 years until his retirement. He was an avid curler and represented Saskatchewan between the years of 1961 to 1971 in the Canadian Brier. He was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1974. Bob also represented the area of Bengough-Milestone in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 1978 to 1991. Bob and Dorothy enjoyed going down to Mesa, Arizona for 22 years. He enjoyed golfing with the bandits. Bob especially had the best times when he was with his family. Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife Dorothy; daughters Laurie (Robert), Pattie (Jeff), Sheri (Gary); grandchildren Geoffrey, Blake, Whitney, Jilissa and Kiana; as well as his great-grandchildren Madison, Ryland, Sophia and Kyden. Bob will also be remembered by his mother-in-law Goldie; brother Jack (Clarese); sisters-in-law Jackie (Sandy), Rhonda (Dale); brother-in-law Bernie (Lorraine) and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Foothills Country Hospice (Box 274, Okotoks, Alberta, T1S 1A5). A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at a later date in Saskatchewan. I just found out about Bobs passing and I was so sorry to hear the news. There are fond memories of him curling against Merv in many spiels. My condolences to you

I am so sorry I didn't know of Bobs passing until I read it in today's newspaper. I know Merv always enjoyed curling against him and they remained friends to the end.

Dorothy and family... I am very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I fondly remember as a teenager being glued to the radio during brier week. When most teens were idolizing football or hockey players ... Bob was my sports hero. Thanks for all of those wonderful curling memories Bob.

My deepest condolences to all the the Pickering families, I was so sorry to hear of your loss of Bob, I have fond memories coming to your home and the farm with Dad to visit. He was a great character,man and curler. It was always a thrill to watch Peewee curl who could ever forget that back swing of his. It was an honor to have known him. He will be missed by so many.
