Iris D. Mazzarini

1944 - 2017

Iris Dale Mazzarini, 72, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Rural Valley, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at the VA Hospital, Aspinwall.

She was born on Dec. 14, 1944, in Carthage, Mo.

Dale was a board chairman for the Cowanshannock Township Water Authority.

She was an Army veteran serving in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. She was proud to be a veteran.

She was a member of the Sagamore Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6555, American Legion, and former Rural Valley Women's Civic Club.

Dale is survived by her daughter, Colleen Plunkett (Donald) Gearhart of Kittanning; granddaughter, Stephanie Eckman of NuMine; two grandsons, Cpl. Eric Eckman of Camp Lejeune, N.C. and Justin Eckman of Kittanning; three great-granddaughters, Paytyn Garmong, Evelyn Garmong, and Leenah Eckman; step-grandson, Harry (Amanda) Gearhart of Shelocta; step-granddaughter, April (Eric) Croyle of Kittanning; and two step great-grandsons, Caden and Curtis Gearhart.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Fern Evelyn (Wood) Whites; close friend, Doris Jean Dorsey and beloved dogs, "Lizzy" and "Missy."

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 18, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., 724 W. Main St., Rural Valley. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Herb Reefer officiating. Burial will take place in the Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
