Essie Sledge Obituary

Essie W. Sledge September 8, 1923 - December 6, 2008 COLUMBUS, GA — Mrs. Essie W. Sledge, 85, of 1224 Bunker Hill Rd. Columbus passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Parkhill Cemetery with the Rev. Virgil Marshall officiating. There will be no visitation of the remains, according to Sconiers Funeral Home, 836 5th Avenue, Columbus. Mrs. Sledge was born September 8, 1923 in Columbus, GA, the daughter of Jessie and Daisy Stephens Williams, she was a member and Deacon of the Carver Heights Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Sledge was a member of the Senior Usher Board and a member of Women of the Church. She was a licensed practical nurse who worked in several hospitals in the Miami, FL area. Survivors include a son, Curtis (Bea) Holland of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters, Bessie Beavers and Noblee Copenny both of Columbus; three grandchildren, Michael Holland, Curtis Holland Jr. and Stacy Holland; one great grandchild, Elaina Holland; other relatives and friends.
