TALBOTTON, GA- Ruth Mildred Day Yancey, age 89 of Talbotton, died Tuesday, February 9, 2011 at Upson Regional medical Center in Thomaston, Ga.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Pounds Rev. Ben Guined officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5 til 8 p.m.
Mrs. Yancey was born July 22, 1921 in Stewart County Georgia., a daughter of Yancy Arthur Day and Alva Page Day. She was a clerk for Bassetts Pharmacy for 35 years, was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and had served as Secretary and Treasurer. She had served on the Talbot County Board of Education and The Talbotton City Council. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, James Albert Yancey Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Phillip Harold Yancey Sr. and wife, Marie of Concord, Ga., and James Albert "Butch" Yancey Jr .and wife Rhonda of Woodland, Ga.; Four Daughters Louise Yancey of Eatonton, Ga., Sara White of Milledgeville, Ga. Geraldine Yancey Batchelor and husband Larry, of Thomaston, Ga. And Jimmie Ruth Stout and husband Robert of Thomaston, Ga. A special friend Dr. Ben Williams, a Sister, Julia Day Rigsby of Columbus, Ga., Ten Grandchildren, and Numerous Great and Great Great Grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or Donations to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
Talbotton Funeral Home, Talbotton, Ga. is in charge of the arrangements.

Aunt Ruth was such a caring, strong lady. I have so many wonderful memories of her. My condolenses to the many members of her family; she will certainly be missed by many, including me. May our precious Lord bless and especially comfort you now and in the weeks and months to come. We're grieving but heaven is celebrating! You're in our thoughts and prayers
