Phenix City, Alabama`- James Carl Yates, age 87, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery on Thursday, May 7, 2015, 2 p.m. with Chaplain Mitch Huling officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 5-7 p.m.
Mr. Yates, son of the late Luther Claude Yates and Jewel Estelle Scroggins Yates, was born January 1, 1928 in Columbus. He was retired from Swift Textile where he faithfully worked in the textile industry for over 47 years.
Mr. Yates was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby Alexander Yates. He is survived by one daughter, Cathy Hood and her husband Lamar; two sons, James "Jimmy" Yates and his wife Debbie, and Luther Yates and his wife Diane; one sister, Connie Lancaster; six grandchildren, Ken, Chris, Jennifer, Lisa, Bridgett, and Tiffany; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
