COLUMBUS, GA- Mrs. Emma Mae Veasley of Columbus passed Wednesday at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. She was 81 years old and resided at 2731 Pecan Street.
A daughter of the late Archie, Sr. and Tiney Johnson Washington, Mrs. Veasley was born in Omaha, Georgia on February 27, 1929. She was retired from Wipo Textile and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and Missionary, Kitchen Helper, with the Hospitality Committee, Minister's Wives and Ministerial Alliance. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Curtis Veasley, Sr., a son, Gregory, and six siblings.
Survivors include four daughters, Min. Shirley Morrell (Gary), Juanita Hoke (Patron), Judy Johnson (James) and Sandra McClendon; two sons, Rev. Curtis Veasley, Jr. (Meredith) and Jarrell Veasley (Lucy); 23 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; a sister, Rev. Izora Lynn; a brother, Rev. Walter Washington (Mattie); and a host of other relatives and friends.
Homegoing Services for Mrs. Veasley will be held Tuesday, 12 Noon at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Reese, pastor officiating and Rev. Kerry Francis, Eulogist. The interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 2 until 6:00 PM at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence at 11:30 the morning of the service.
