Hurtsboro, AL- Mr. Ruben Ernest Burts, Sr., 65, of 3 Burrow Road, Hurtsboro, AL passed Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Shady Grove Baptist Church (Battle Community) Eufaula, AL with Rev. Vincent Ellison, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Burts was born January 1, 1947 to Lillian Wilborn Mack and the late Josh Burts. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He retired from Tom's Foods.
Survivors other than his mother include his wife, Estella Burts of Hurtsboro, AL; three daughters, Betty Epps of Ft. Myers, FL; Delois (Ralph) Mack of Phenix City, AL and Shirley (Will) Davis of Seale, AL; two sons, Ruben (Kathey) Burts and Roderick (Joy) Burts both of Phenix City, AL; three brothers, Willie James (Loisteen) Mack of Hurtsboro, AL; Harris (Cynthia) Mack and Matthew (Angela) Mack both of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Lillie (Charlie) Evans and Mary (Robert) Mabry both of Hurtsboro, AL; 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
