Robert Bento Obituary
He was born Dec. 7, 1934 in Tiverton, R.I. son of the late Joseph H. and Mary (Murphy) Bento.
Bob's formative years were spent in Rhode Island where he attended local schools. He graduated from the former De La Salle Academy in Newport, R.I. where he was reported to be an outstanding student. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Providence College in 1956 and his Masters degree in Physics from the University of Maryland in 1959.
Bob had lived in Westport Point, Mass. from 1967 until 1987 when he moved to Jaffrey.
Before his retirement in 2002, Bob was a Professor of Physics at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in North Dartmouth, Mass.
He enjoyed being an amateur weather forecaster, playing tennis and his daily walks around town.
In 1966 Bob married Joan Stratton. She died in June of 2014.
Survivors include his step-daughter, Lisa Stratton of Boston; his step-son, Samuel Sirois of Westport, Mass.; his brother, Paul Bento of Auburn, Mass.; sister-in-law, Ruth Bento of Tiverton, R.I. several nieces and nephews and many dear friends in the greater Monadnock area.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his step-son Stratton Luke Sirois also in 2014.
As per Bob's request, there will be no formal services at this time. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Monadnock Kitty Rescue and Adoption, Post Office Box 468, Jaffrey, N.H. 03452-0468.

My sympathy to the family. I was the Physics Department secretary for 26 years. Prof. Bento was a kind and supportive boss. He and the other faculty were like family. I will miss him. God Bless
