BILL ANDERSON Obituary

Funeral services for Bill Anderson, 78, of Leesville, La., were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the First Baptist Church in Leesville with Rev. Jeff Coleman and Dr. Jerry Penifield officiating. Visitation was Monday, Sept. 28, from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 1 p.m. until service time all at the church. Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Burial followed in the McInnis Cemetery in Anacoco. The pallbearers were Don Lewis, J.L. Busby, Danny Cedars, Wayne Duke, Dennis Karamales, and Joey Bollinger and honorary pallbearers Garland McInnis, Wayne West, Douglas Martin, Robert Brown, Charnel Bailey, Steven Antony, Keith Allen, D.L. Johnston, Buck Massey.
Bill, the son of Jack and Willie Mae Brown Anderson, was born Oct. 10, 1936 in Leesville. Bill passed away in Alexandria, Saturday Sept. 26, 2015.
He lived his entire life in Vernon Parish. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leesville where he served as a deacon until his health declined. He worked in the oil field for 35 years where he worked his way up from roust-about to drilling consultant. Bill loved his job and always believed that a job worth doing was worth doing well, whether it was washing dishes or running an oil rig. He did both well. He was a life-long cattleman and timber man.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister Mary-Helen, brothers Jake Anderson and Jerry Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Macel McInnis Anderson; three children Jeffery Anderson and wife Sandra of Midland, Texas, April Ragan and husband Claude of Greensboro, NC, and William (Billy) and wife Billie of Potrero, Costa Rica; eight grandchildren; Graham Ragan, Joel Ragan, Anderson Ragan, Aidan Anderson, Anneke Anderson, Calla Anderson, Jack Anderson, and Miles Anderson; several nieces and nephews, and many very special friends.
His family extends a special thank you to the staff at Brookdale Senior Living in Alexandria, and to the hospice people there, especially his caretaker Danielle and nurse Alison.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Leesville.
