BARBARA KAEDING Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Dec. 12 to Dec. 13, 2010.
KAEDING, Barbara Jean Watson, 87, passed away peacefully at home December 9, 2010 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren William Kaeding. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Shore; four daughters and their husbands, Jeanne Kaeding and John Kapecki, Jennifer and Kevin Blair, Carolyn and Louis Seivard and Margaret and Bucky Black; her grandchildren, Steven Seivard and his wife and daughter, April and Olivia, Jeffery Seivard and his wife, Rachel, William Black and Raymond Black; her brother-in-law and wife, Harold, and Jean Kaeding; also nieces and nephews. Her lifelong interest in art and music led her to earn a Master's degree in music at UCLA. Though her primary goal was to raise her family, she also held positions of public school music teacher and organist and choir director at several churches. Later in life she became a painter and bought her first computer at age 80. She developed an intense interest in her family history and history in general. Her warm personality and interest in life will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 13, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street, Glen Allen, Va., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 14. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to Voice of the Martyrs, www.persecution.com, or Samaritan's Purse, www.samaritanspurse.org.

My deepest sympathies to the family. I had the pleasure of working briefly with Barbara and her book. She was one of the sweetest people I've ever met, and a wonderful artist. I know she will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Pat B.

Miss Barbara........you were one of those people who glowed when sharing the gospel. Always a smile on your face and a hug when I was near. There are few people in the world who have the ability to make a stranger feel at home.
Carolyn, Lou, and kids........my sympathy and prays

Barbara was a cousin that I never met but with whom I had several long phone conversations about the history of our family, especially our Devereaux and Wilson ancestry. I am sorry that we never met in person, but I will always fondly recall her warm welcome when I called and her intellectual curiosity. My sincere condolences to her family.
