JOHN WOLFE
TOLEDO — John Glenn Wolfe, age 80, of Toledo, died February 4, 2017 at Flower Hospital.
He was born July 10, 1936 in Lima to the late Harley and Ethel (Suhr) Wolfe.
Following graduation from Bowling Green State University in 1959, John served active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1959-62 on the USS Prairie. He then served in the Naval Reserves Fleet Division 4-6D on board USS Hollidaysburg from 1963-70. John maintained numerous unit affiliations from 1970-89 and retired from the USNR in 1990 as a Captain.
John had a 30-year career in education as a teacher and administrator. He served as Principal at Whittier Elementary and South Junior High in Lima, Oregon Clay High School and Bedford (OH) High School. John retired in 1988 from education and began a career as a residential building and remodeling contractor, operating C&J Enterprises from 1988-2008.
A member of the Ohio Education Association, Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators, Phi Delta Kappa Honorary Education Administrators, Barton Smith Lodge #613 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, Zenobia Shrine, Conn-Weissenberger American Legion Post, Toledo Elks Lodge, Naval Reserves Officer's Association - Toledo Chapter, U.S. Navy League - Toledo and a U.S. Naval Academy Admissions Counselor from 1959-89.
John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary (Rossfeld) Wolfe; children, Catherine Klewer (Keith), Elizabeth Faneuff (Randall), Barbara Pappas (Michael) and Charles Wolfe (Cynthia); eleven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by sister, Jean Alice Otis.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where Masonic memorial services will held at 7:00 p.m.
Private graveside services with military honors will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to Toledo Shrine Hospital, 8048 Broadstone Blvd., Perrysburg, OH 43551, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Dear Wolfe Family, John was my very first principal when I started teaching at South Junior High in 1971. He has always and will always hold a special place in my heart! My most sincere condolences on his passing. You are all in my prayers and thoughts at this difficult time.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have nothing but fond memories of Mr. Wolfe from CHS days. I remember the interest he took in students, the guidance and advice offered, and mostly enjoying a good laugh. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
