DONALD SCHECKELHOFF
NEW CLEVELAND — Donald Othmar Scheckelhoff, 75, of New Cleveland, died 5:10 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2016 at Bridge Hospice Center, Findlay. He was born July 21, 1940 in Leipsic to the late Robert and Martha (Wannemacher) Scheckelhoff. On November 29, 1969 he married Teresa Odenweller who survives in New Cleveland.
Donald is survived by four sons: Eric (Kelly) Scheckelhoff of Elida, Kirk (Beth) Scheckelhoff of Leipsic, Joseph (Lila) Scheckelhoff of Rochester Hills, MI, Charles (Susan) Scheckelhoff of Miller City; 15 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; six siblings: Joan (John) Aelker of Ottawa, Gary (Debra) Scheckelhoff of Bluffton, Carl (Karen) Scheckelhoff of New Bavaria, Marianne (John) Butterfield of Greenwood, IN, Alan (Phyllis) Scheckelhoff of Wauseon, and Robert (Kathy) Scheckelhoff of Bryan. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Brenda (Kirk) Scheckelhoff.
Donald was a very faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland. He was a lifelong farmer who was a family man with a passion for his loved ones and the environment. He was a member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus and the Sierra Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland with Fr. Stephen Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, where there will be a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. and a K of C Rosary at 7:30 p.m., as well as visitation Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass.
Memorials may be made to the Propagation of Faith, Putnam County Home Health and Hospice, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
