GRACE SCHULTE
DELPHOS – Grace O. Schulte, 82, of Delphos, passed away Tuesday morning, December 20, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Her Family…. She was born November 12, 1934 in Kalida to Art and Gertrude (Tennissen) Schroeder, who both preceded her in death. On June 21, 1958 she married Robert M. Schulte.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert M. Schulte of Delphos; a son, Robert J. (Kathy) Schulte of Lima; three daughters, Karen K. (Dan) Grothouse, Patricia S. (Mark) Gerberick and M. Lynn (Phil) Odenweller, all of Delphos; two brothers, Jim (Ginny) Schroeder of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Ron (Liz) Schroeder of Washington State; four sisters, Alice (Lee) Spangler of Cement City, Michigan, Marge (Jim) O'Neil of Centerville, Ruth Altstaetter of Botkins and Carole Kelley (Leonard) of Dayton; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Lammlein, Stacey (Andy) Vaske, Michael (Staci) Schulte, Bradley Gerberick, Eric Gerberick, Ally Gerberick and Jessica Odenweller; and six great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Alex and Abigail Lammlein, Nashton and Evelyn Vaske and Annalise Schulte.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Schroeder and Jane Schroeder; and a grandson, Eric Grothouse
Her Legacy…. Grace was a graduate of Kalida High School and Mercy Hospital Toledo as a Registered Nurse. She had been an Avon Sales Representative, a member of its President's Club and a team leader. In 1984 she began working in sales and marketing for Interim Healthcare, then becoming the Administrator of Interim Healthcare of Lima, Defiance and Findlay. In 1987 until 1995 she was co-owner of Interim Healthcare of Lima. Grace and her husband Robert became co-owners of Spherion of Lima, Inc. in 1980.
Grace had won the Athena Award in 2004; was co-winner with her husband of L.E. Dettman Founders Award for best personifying the entrepreneurial spirit with the dedication, discipline and direction to achieve best results.
Grace's other affiliations were: The Ohio State University at Lima – Board of Trustees, Chair – 2004-2005; 2001 Chair of the Lima Area Chamber of Commerce; Member and Graduate of the Allen Lima Leadership Program, Outstanding Alumni of the Year Winner, 2000; Legatus Member; Serra International; YMCA – Past Trustee; The Ohio State University - President's Club; St. Rita's Medical Center - Past Board Member and Chairman of the Board; United Way Campaign – Retail/Business Co-Leader; Alexis De Tocqueville Society Chair – 2002-2003; Lima's Crime Victim Services Board – Past President; Goodwill Industries - Past Board Member; Human Services – Past Board Member; Downtown Lima Board – Past President.
Grace was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where she was a past member of the choir. She was active on the restoration committee of St. John's Church.
Her Farewell Services.… Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. George Mahas officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Robert and Grace Schulte Family Scholarship Fund at Ohio State University, Lima or to Lewy Body Dementia Research (wexnermedical.osu.edu/waystogive). After working with Grace and the Schulte Family for almost 24 years, this is heartbreaking. Grace was a class act and has left a legacy through her children and grand children. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived - Love and hugs!!
