GEORGE KERNS
DELPHOS — George Kerns Jr., 83, of Delphos, formerly of Rushmore, passed away Wednesday morning, April 19, 2017, at St. Rita's Hospice.
His Family…. He was born July 20, 1933 in Covington, Kentucky to George and Ruth Kerns Sr., who both preceded him in death. On July 23, 1960 he married Agatha (Horstman) Kerns, who survives in Delphos.
He is also survived by three sons, Alan (Eileen) Kerns of Ottoville, George (Patricia) Kerns of Ottawa and Craig (Janice) Kerns of Elida; a daughter, Sonia (Rodney) Stoner of Ottoville; a sister, Wanda (Elbert) Butler of Englewood; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Howard "Bub" Wolf; a sister, Margorie Hayes; a grandson; and a son-in-law, Kenneth "Duffy" Jackson.
His Legacy…. George retired in December of 1991 after working 31 years at Ford Motor Company in Lima, where he was a receiving checker. He had served in the United States Navy. George was a member of the Fort Jennings American Legion Post 715.
His Farewell Services.… A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery with military honors conducted by Fort Jennings American Legion Post 715.
Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be shared at www.weberfh.net.
