DELPHOS — James L. Feathers, 99, of Delphos passed away on February 12, 2018, at Vancrest Health Care Center.
He was born August 23, 1918, in Delphos to A. Leroy "Roy" and Mary (Woodruff) Feathers. In March of 1946, he was united in marriage to Carol Dray. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2012.
James is also survived by three sons, James W. (Sharon) Feathers and Thomas Feathers of Delphos, John "Kenny" (Cindy) Feathers of Lima; one daughter, Ruthann (Jim) Carnahan of Bradenton, Florida; one brother, John (Edna) Feathers of Powell, Wyoming; one sister, Mary Alice Collins of CA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; two brothers, Bob (Dorothy) Feathers, and infant brother Charles; one sister, Grace Jones, and a grandson, Danny Carnahan.
Jim was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. He graduated in 1936 from Jefferson High School. Jim served in the Army Air Corp 1941-1945 during WWII. He retired from Nickleplate and Norfolk and Western Railroad. In 1956 Jim, Rollie Hittle, and Roland Weaver organized and started the first midget football league in Delphos by the Jefferson Coaches Association. The first coaches were Keith Kiggins, Vern Gonyea, Dick Craig, and Frank Sterns. All Delphos youth were able to participate in this league. Jim was an avid fisherman, hunter, and trap shooter. He was a life member of the American Legion, NRA, and ATA associations.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos. Rev. David Howell will officiate. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Delphos Veterans' Council. Friends may call on Thursday, February 15, from 2-8 p.m. and an hour before the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Delphos Veterans' Memorial Park.

Nancy and I loved Jim he was a dear friend. I can remember him saying I will be buried with a bottle of Kentucky Burbon it might be hot and dry trip.
