Ray C. Blanford
MT. PULASKI - Ray C. Blanford, 85 of Mt. Pulaski, IL formerly of Gillespie and Girard, IL passed away Sat. July 30, 2011 at Abraham Lincoln Hospital, Lincoln, IL.
Ray was born April 22, 1926 in Lincoln, IL a son of Everett and Edith (Wilham) Blanford. He married Norma Jean Harrold Aug. 17, 1946 in Springfield, IL. She preceded in death Sept. 30, 2010. Also preceding in death was Ray's twin brother Roy C. Blanford.
Ray was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WW II, he was a member of the First Christian Church in Gillespie, IL a life member of the Gillespie Masonic Lodge, the O.E.S. in Gillespie, IL and retired from Peabody Coal Mine # 10 in Pawnee, IL and formerly farmed in the Taylorville, IL area.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Monty) Linder of Taylorville, IL, a son, Stephen R. (Donna) Blanford of Lincoln, IL, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
Graveside of ashes will be at 10:30 a.m. Sat. Aug. 13, 2011 in Mt. Pulaski Cemetery, Mt. Pulaski, IL. There will be no visitation, cremation rites accorded by Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Memorials may be made to the first Christian Church, Gillespie, IL or to donor's choice.
