AGE: 68 • Ossining
Elaine Myers passed away on July 3, 2015. Although she was preceded in death by her parents Dan and Madge (DePalma) and her father-in-law Donald, a day never passed that they were not in her thoughts and prayers.
Elaine's courageous fight against cancer amazed every doctor, nurse, and person she encountered during her long battle. Although she worked equally-hard her whole life to help others as a dedicated nurse, wife of Jan, daughter-in-law of Sophie, sister-in-law of Karl and Eric, mother of Michelle and Nicole, and mother-in-law of Dale and Will, Elaine always appreciated the simple beauty of life. She never walked by a flower without stopping to smell it, and remarked every day on the beauty of the sky, and of every sunset, and of the moon every night, and of each of God's creatures visiting her backyard.
Elaine cherished relationships and infectiously displayed her love of others. From her brother Danny and sister-in-law Hanna, her dear-nursing-school-bff Ginger, her cousin-who-was-more-like-a-sister Elaine, to her Phelps Memorial and Westchester Medical co-workers or her OHS Class of 1965 classmates, she never missed an opportunity to share a cup of coffee and catch up on their lives.
As a lifelong resident of Ossining, Elaine always had to be near water. When she was not near the Hudson River, she was in Seaside Park NJ, or in a pool, or dreaming of Caribbean beaches, and usually listening to Jimmy Buffett tunes. Whenever she was away, she was sure to pack a bathing suit just in case she had the opportunity to be in the water.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Spartans Swim Team Boosters, PO Box 1925, Ossining, NY 10562, where Elaine's greatest loves of her life—her grandchildren Hailey, Stella, and Ryan—learned to love being in the water, just like her.

Laney was my dearest friend. Even though I live in California we have in close touch over these many years. My love to Jan, Michelle who has truly been her rock over these last difficult years, Nicole and to Stella, Ryan and Hayley who she deeply loved.

It was a great privilege to have Elaine as my friend for many years. Filled wit Love , Wit and smiling sweetness, you could always count on feeling good once you've encountered Elaine. She was truly One Special Woman! She will be missed here on earth, but will always be around in spirit.
