I met Coach for the first time in 1986, while his boxing student at WCC. We quickly became friends. I was inspired by his spirit and dedication to the sport of boxing, and his love for human beings. My life has been enriched by knowing and being a part of his life. I believe he lived a full and meaningful life. Although his physical body is no longer on this earth, I can experience him anytime, by simply recalling in my mind's eye the many fond memories of the times we shared together.
Sincerely,
Peter Yarmolinsky

To Steve's Family,
I JUST (2/25/18) learned of Steve's passing. I am so very sorry. I hope that the best memories (and you have an almost limitless supply!)-- remembrances of laughter, storytelling, accomplishment, the colorful individuals with whom Steve crossed paths, friends, family, love-- help to sustain you through the most difficult days. I have been extremely proud to know that Steve and I were friends. That meant a lot to me. I always got a kick out of coming to the house, and I always felt warmly welcomed. Steve enriched so many, many lives. I extend my condolences.
As I described Steve in my birthday words to him, by way of an email to Donna, in November:
SUPER 101 TO A SUPER GUY A MENSCH FIRST-CLASS A GALANTUOMO UN UOMO D'ONORE!
Love,
Rick Kaletsky

Steve was an amazing motivational coach and trainer. He took excellent care of his fighters, I was never mismatched. He would say to me a skinny kid Gustavo you are inch for inch, pound for pound and ounce for ounce the strongest fighter and had me believing it. Thank you Steve for putting all that confidence in me, you are second to none.
With much love and appreciation,
Gustavo Barni

I'm deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved father and grandfather. May the beautiful memories of him that you cherish provide comfort and strength for you and your family. May you find solace as you endure this most distressing time with our Heavenly Father (Ps. 83:18) who revives the spirit of those hurting. Isaiah 57:15.

He went the Championship Rounds in his quest for safety in the sport of Boxing and for its participants. He never rested between rounds in his quest, may he now rest with his gloves raised and the appreciation of many.
