Ester Gunther Obituary
Ester Gunther of Croton-on-Hudson, NY passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. She was 93 years old.
Ester was born on November 12, 1923 in Harlem, NY. She lived in Croton for 40 years before moving to Maine. After living in Maine for 20 years, she moved back to Westchester to be closer to her family. Ester was a member of the Croton Senior Citizens Club for many years. Ester had an ability to light up the room with her smile. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to many. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her loving son, John J. Gunther and his wife Peggi. She was predeceased by her beloved son Kenneth Gunther in 2004.
Funeral Services will be private.

Hi John, so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. My Mom to this day fondly speaks of her friendship and sewing sessions with your Mom. My favorite memory when I came to your house was your Mom always had a stash of Tootsie Pops. Our family often speaks of the Silver Lake neighborhood and always fond memories of both your Mom and Dad.

John and Peggi, I was so sorry to hear about "Mrs Gunther's" passing. She and your Dad (Big Joe the train engineer) were a cornerstone for the Cully family growing up. She sewed my 8th grade graduation dress for me. She painted a beautiful oil of "Peter rabbit sitting at his mothers feet" that our Mom hung proudly in the dining room for years. I believe when she moved the painting returned to Esther. Great memories of great, kind, talented,compassionate folks! How blessed you were to have had them for parents.
