Gavin Bernard Obituary
Hugh Bernard Gavin, 74, of Charlotte, NC., formerly of Tarrytown, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017. Born on March 30, 1943 in Tarrytown, New York, Hugh was the son of the late William and Marion (Nee) Gavin. Educated at Manhattan College in New York, Mr. Gavin earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1965 and went on to earn his Master's Degree at SUNY in New Paltz, NY. He taught at St. Teresa Catholic Grammar School in Sleepy Hollow, NY before teaching at Cornwall Middle School. Following his retirement, Mr. Gavin and his wife Cookie moved to Indian Trail, North Carolina.. They were members of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Charlotte.
Besides his parents, Mr. Gavin was preceded in death by his brother Bill Gavin, Jr. Survivors include his loving wife "Cookie" Leona M Gavin; children Chris (Marjorie) Gavin, Vicki (Brendan) Ciganek, Tim (Joy) Gavin and Joe (Rachel) Gavin. Also surviving are his grandchildren Gavin Ciganek, Bryson Gavin, Cooper and Colby Gavin, Jaeda, Silas and Caleb Gavin.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 10th at 10:30 AM at the Transfiguration Church, Tarrytown. Interment will take place in the Historic Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Tarrytown, New York Online condolences may be sent to www.carolinafuneral.com.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
