Joan Petrie Obituary
formerly of Stony Point - Joan Petrie born April 30th, 1940 formerly from Stony Point, NY, passed away quietly on March 14th, 2018 in Florida after fighting a long battle with cancer. Joan is survived by her loving husband Harry of almost sixty years of marriage, and was there by her side daily battling the fight with her, along with her wonderful daughter Allyson and son-in-law Glenn O'Donnell, also of Florida. Also survived by daughter Michelle Petrie, granddaughter Janelle Miller, grandson Howie Miller, great-granddaughters Talyah and Tiera Hunter, all from NY, sister Gayle Rupp and sons Eric and Brandon Rupp from Saratoga Lake, NY. Joan worked at East Ramapo Central school district for over 35 years where she made a lot of great friends and memories. All who knew her loved her for her friendly happy helping ways. Joan and Harry retired to Florida early 2000 and enjoyed favorite past times together...golfing, quick rides to the beach, crossword puzzles and dining out. Joan loved to shop and especially with her daughter Allyson...two shopping peas in a pod. We are deeply saddened for the loss of a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. A Memorial Service will be held in the spring in NY to mom's favorite happy place at Saratoga Lake. Date and time will be announced.
