Edward Schneider Obituary
Edward Thomas
Edward T. Schneider, of Chappaqua, NY, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at his winter residence in West Palm Beach, Florida as a result of complications from Alzheimer's. He was ninety-two years of age. Ed is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth, his five children, Tom, John, Kathy Szczesniak, Jean Schob, and Mary Vierengel, as well as twelve grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Ed was a graduate of Manhattan College, and served as an Aviator and Flight Instructor at the Naval Air Training Center in Pensacola, Florida. After the war, he formed Schneider Fuel Oil Corp, a home heating oil distribution company serving the New York Metropolitan area, and later expanded with the acquisition of Town & Country Oil Corporation. His love of sports included the game of golf. He was a past president of Winged Foot Golf Club, where he was also Chairman of several major tournaments held at Winged Foot, including two USGA Men's Open Championships in 1974 and 1984. Over the years, his community service included serving as Police Commissioner and Trustee in the Village of Ardsley, and as a member of the Board of the South Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle.
A memorial service is planned for the spring. Donations to Alzheimer's research would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me".
