Josephine Gorman Obituary
Josephine S. Gorman, of Somers, NY died on December 16, 2014 at the Seabury Home in Cortlandt Manor, NY where she joyfully resided for the last two years of her life. Josephine was the embodiment of love and compassion, deep spirituality, an angel on earth who touched the heart of all who knew her, it was Josephine. Josephine was 94 years young. Beloved wife of the late William J. Gorman who predeceased her in 2000. Loving mother of Patricia Rowan (Joseph), William J. Gorman (Dorothy), the late Richard W. Gorman (Cynthia), and Marilyn Entwistle (Paul Dinter), she lived for many years in Yonkers before moving to Somers. She is survived by her 10 cherished grandchildren, John, Carolyn, Billy, Jennifer, Greg, Paul, Kim, Christian, Caitlin & Tara and 8 great-grandchildren.
Born in NYC on May 11, 1920, she graduated from Good Counsel College in White Plains, NY in 1941 and soon after married her beloved husband, Bill. Josephine was a devoted educator who taught at Elizabeth Ann Seton Academy in Riverdale, NY, St. Barnabas School in Woodlawn and the Yonkers schools for many years. She went on to receive a Masters in Counseling at Manhattan College in Riverdale and finished her years in Yonkers as a School Counselor, retiring in 1982.
Her family will receive friends at Holy Name of Mary Church, 110 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY Thursday from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM. Internment: Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Phelps Hospice, 701 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591.

What a beautiful soul. Words seem hollow as I'm sure hundreds of lives she touched would wish her a fond farewell. My wish for Aunt Jo is for life everlasting, as the light of this world has become a little dimmer with her passing. Please knowt that she is remembered by all those whose lives she touched, especially me.
