Robert Smith Obituary
Robert E. Smith, of Mt. Kisco, passed away on April 9, 2016. He was 81 years old. Born in Yonkers to the late J. Emmit and Paula Kocak Smith. Beloved husband of Marie Frankowski Smith. Dear father of Douglas Smith and stepfather of Catherine (Steven) Soltis and Henry (Ruth) Frankowski. Loving brother of Richard (Maria) Smith and Linda O'Dierno. Adored uncle of Katie O'Dierno. Bob received his Bachelors degree from Manhattan College and a Masters degree from both Brown and Fordham Universities. He was a prominent executive for Howmedica in East Rutherford, NJ for over 25 years and then for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in NYC. He had a very successful career with both companies. Mr. Smith enjoyed hiking throughout Westchester County, kayaking and was a member of various book clubs in Westchester and NYC. Arrangements entrusted to FLOWER FUNERAL HOME INC., 714 Yonkers Ave, with visitation today 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral mass Wednesday 10:00 am at St. Ann's Church on College Place. Bob was my very first "company" boss, taking a chance on this non-PhD candidate, in that brave new world of medical device research (1976) at Howmedica. Bob was a good supervisor, always a gentleman, and a fine story teller, too. Everyone in the company liked him. He will be missed.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

Adieu and aufwiedersehen Robert. You were a great mentor, "boss", and friend through all the Howmedica years. We had many ups and downs during that time, particularly the Anschluss. Requiescat Im pacem.
