Sister Thomas More Dugga, OP of Dominican Convent, Sparkills, New York died on April 12, 2013 in Siena Hill, Sparkill, NY. Born in St. Louis, MO on November 11, 1917, Agnes was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Kelley Duggan. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on July 11, 1935 and became known as Sister Thomas More, professing her first vows in 1942. Sister Thomas More earned a BA in education from Manhattan College, NY and MA education from St. Louis University, MO and MA in Religious Studies from Providence College, RI. Sister Thomas More was an elementary and high school teacher for fifty years. She taught in the Archdiocese of New York and St. Louis and the Dioceses of Brooklyn and Jefferson City. she was a teacher at St. Theresa, Woodside, NY (1937-38); Epiphany, St. Louis, MO (1938-43); St. Rose of Lima, New York, NY (1943-46; St Mary Magdalen, Brentwood, MO (1946-48 & 1959-60; Cathedral HS Annex, Bronx, NY (1948-49); St. Mark, St. Louis, MO (1949-54); Holy Redeemer, St. Louis, MO (1968-69); St. James (principal), St. Louis, MO (1969--71) and St. Dominic HS, O'Fallon, MO (1971-87. Sister Thomas More retired from the classroom in 1987 and was an Adult Education Coordinator in Epiphany parish from 1987-1998, from 1998-2005 she lived in Loretto Center and offered local community service in her place of residence. In 2005 she became a resident in Dominican Convent in Sparkill and tutored children in the Dominican Learning Center program. In 2011 she became a resident of Siena Hall and remained active until her passing on Friday.

Sister Thomas More is survived by her nephews Thomas Duggan (Vicki) St. Louis, MO, Jim Newport (Cindy) Aurora, IL, Paul Newport (Nina) Wheaton, IL and nieces Marie Marzec, New York, Shelly Moran, Manchester, CT and Marianne Battista, DeKalb, IL. She is loved by many grandnieces, grandnephews and dear cousins.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Sparkill, NY on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 10:30am. Visitation is on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 3:30 to 7:30pm at Dominican Convent, 175 rte 340, Sparkill, NY. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Arrangements are by Higgins Funeral Home.
