Remembering Dick as a First Class Gentleman! Rest In Peace

May 1, 2012

I knew Dick professionally when he was at the County Association. He was also a personal friend whose integrity and kindness always amazed me. I was blessed for having benefited from his friendship. Rest in peace, Dick. Tom Spitznas, Mt. Pleasant, SC

Dear Jane & Family
Just read about Dick's passing on the WCA page in the Westchester Business Journal. We worked together at WCA for about 6 years and on JA and other activities for years before that. Dick was the most ethical, honest person I've ever known and surely one of the kindest. My wife and I now live in Massachusetts, near the grandsons, and I will keep Dick in my prayers and thoughts for a long time. Ted Peluso

Dear Jane & Family, I was fortunate to meet Dick freshman year at Holy Cross. We shared time in NROTC and some courses. I have nothing but fond memories of those years. I was truly honored to have conversed with him over the phone, despite his
weakened conditioned last week. I shall continue to remember all of you in my daily prayers, with sympathy, Dominick Izzo

Dick was a wonderful, kind and gracious gentleman. My sincere sympathy to Jane, Dick's wife, to their family, and to Dick's sisters, Ellen & Mary.

It is said that one can tell the measure of a person by how one treats one's mother. In this respect, Dick was a man of full measure, exceptionally caring and loving. He would join his late mother for dinner several nights a week and was always known to provide her the independence she needed in her advancing years. Additionally, Dick always found time to check in with her neighbors and friends.

I lived behind the Schaab family for thirty five years and saw first hand what was a wonderful and caring son, husband and father. It is with great sadness that I have learned of Dick's death. He has joined the family and friends who went before him in everlasting peace.

Sincerely,
Evelyn Beckerle

Dick and I met by chance in NYC one day some ten years after we graduated. I remember the meeting, and now wonder why we didn't followup with more meetings.

God Bless and RIP!

Dick and I majored in economics at Holy Cross and attended many classes together. After graduation our paths separated. By chance, we met in New York City many years later exiting a Lenten mass on 43rd St. Our ensuing brief "reunion" reminded me of just how kind, gentle and concerned a man he was.

Rest in peace.

Dick's service to his country, family, our county and his church still pale in comparison to his character and dignity. All the best to his family - we are much better for knowing him - Terry Masterson
