STEVEN S. GJELSTEN

Steven S. Gjelsten of Pelham and New Rochelle, died Tuesday at the age of 54. Born January 18, 1946 in Mount Vernon to Gladis (Olsen) and the late Rolf S. Gjelsten, he was raised in New Rochelle. Steve had a magnificent voice and as a boy, sang in the choir at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine. When he was a young man, he was a active in theater groups in Westchester and Ocala, FL. Steve also sailed with the Norwegian Merchant Marines in the late 60's and had been around the world. Steve was the cherished husband of his bride, Loris (Puma) and the beloved brother of Dr. Joanne Gjelsten, Paula Sabul, Jill Keogh, Rondi and Robert A. Mancini; nieces, Joanne and Lea-Anne (Carlson) Carafa, Jenna and Lindsey Mancini; nephew, Raymond D. Carlson, Jr; stepchildren, Robert, Joseph and Jeffrey Limiero and Robin Raab as well as two grandnieces and two grandnephews and many cousins and friends also survive. Visitation will be today, Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at George T. Davis Funeral Home, 14 LeCount Place, New Rochelle, NY. Burial will be private. Service at the Funeral Home, Thursday, 8 pm.
