JOSEPH COMISKEY Obituary

Joseph F. Comiskey, Jr., of Croton, passed away January 13, 2004 at home. He was 72 years old. Mr. Comiskey was born June 4, 1931 at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Joseph F. Comiskey and Jean Starzyk Comiskey. He married Joyce Elizabeth Gunsch on August 16, 1953 at St. Joseph Church in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Comiskey was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving honorably in the Korean War. He served 1951-1954 aboard the USS Midway as an official Navy photographer. He was employed since 1955 with IBM. Mr. Comiskey received many outstanding awards during his career at IBM for his innovations and contributions in the field of micrographic and optical imaging. One of his proudest achievements was a Fellowship awarded to him by the National Micrographics Association (now A.I.I.M.). He retired from IBM in 1989. Mr. Comiskey is survived by his wife Joyce of Croton. He was the devoted father of sons Joseph F. Comiskey, III (Heidi Hoesli) of Croton and Joel M. Comiskey (Barbara Gershman) of Poughkeepsie and daughters Joy-Ann Comiskey (Andrew Skillman) of Mahopac and JaneAnn Comisky of Ossining. He is also survived by his seven cherished grandchildren Christopher and Gregory Comiskey of Croton, Michael and Matthew Comiskey of Poughkeepsie, and Sean, Connor and Courtney Skillman of Mahopac. He is also survived by his sister Jeanne M. Comiskey Levine and brother-in-law Ronald Levine of Hyde Park, NY, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. His wishes for a "Celebration of Life" luncheon are being planned by family. Friends may call on January 17, 2004 at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY from 2-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be sent to Jansen Memorial Hospice, 69 Main St., Tuckahoe, NY 10707.
