MAUREEN HICKEY Obituary

Maureen Hickey
Maureen, beloved wife of Tom Welch and mother of Susanne Miller, Stephen, Mark, Paul, and David Welch, died peacefully at home surrounded by family after a valiant battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband, children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother Doris Hickey; three sisters: Kathleen Lennon, Eileen Norrington, Rita Hickey; and three brothers: Daniel, Kevin and Michael.
Maureen, a long time resident of Lompoc, was active in the community. She worked as a graphic artist for a local newspaper, provided in-home day care, and volunteered at the Lompoc Penitentiary. She was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church where she served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, music director for Cursillo retreats, and as a Stephens Minister. Since 2005 she has been a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. Maureen was active with the American Cancer Society and the Relay For Life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10am at the Bethany Lutheran Church. Pastor Joe Byrd will be presiding. Inurnment will follow on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 10am at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Maureen's name to the American Cancer Society.
Maureen loved her family and loved to celebrate life. She is now celebrating in heaven.
