Kristen Sauder Obituary

SAUDER, KRISTEN, 45, of Louisville, passed away on January 22, 2014 after a courageous fight with cancer.

Kristen encompassed with every fiber of her mind, body, and soul the words of the Apostle Paul who said "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day." She was born on August 3, 1968. She married the love of her life, Kurt Sauder on June 21, 1991. He survives, along with four of the greatest kids that Kristen poured her life into from the time each was born, Olivia 20, Drew 18, Ivy 17 and Ellie 14. Also surviving are her parents, Norman McColl and Katylee McInerney. She is also survived by two brothers and a sister. Kristen was a loving wife, outstanding mother, and faithful companion to many. She packed a full life into her 45 years. She graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1991 with her husband- launching them into a life of disciple-making and pouring their lives into people for the great passion of Kristen's life: Jesus. Kristen was not only a wife and mom, but God gave her a platform as a speaker, writer, and leader with Further Still Ministries which she founded with her husband.

Funeral services will be held at Southeast Christian Church on January 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held on January 24, from 11a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m.; and 9-10:30a.m. on Saturday at the church. Courageous love! Kristen and Kurt

My first roommate at Moody - we loved shopping at the mall, eat Top Ramen w/baked potatoes, and using lots of hairspray.

Dear Kurt
I have lost touch with Kristen since Moody, and lately my thoughts have wandered toward her. So I searched to find this news and my heart is heavy for your loss. The little that I have read I'm glad to see that she lived a life well spent, doing exactly what she aspired to do since Moody. I'm sad to think that I lost my chance to reconnect with her in this life - but I'll look out for her when it's my turn to go.

I would like to send you a picture of when I roomed with her at Moody - please look out for it soon.

Big hug from me to you and yours!

PS. I would love to touch base with you:

I didn't know Kristen personally. I only read about her on facebook. That aside, she is a remarkable woman of God, chosen, & precious. That makes us FAMILY. We have the same Father, who is the Lord God Almighty. We are sisters. May God bless & keep this family in his loving care.

I am so sorry for the loss of Kristen. I attended her funeral service and listened to all of her friends. Bob Russell was absolutely fabulous, the music was such tribute to Kristen. Kurt is such a great guy with great children in which i am so sorry for their loss. I know I will pray for them in the days of healing and losing their best friend, mother and dear wife...God Bless all of You.....John Black

Kurt, We are so sorry for your loss. You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

January 26, 2014

I neglected to say on the Jan 25th post that it was Bryan and Jan Veal. We are grieving with your family and rejoicing in Kristin's journey to heaven.

January 25, 2014

Bryan and I are brokenhearted at the loss of Kristin here on earth. It is wonderful beyond imagination that she is seeing her Savior face to face, but we grieve her loss to us.
She was a bundle of energy who packed twice the numbers she lived into her life. We will never know how many people she led to the Lord.
Kurt, thank you for being so transparent about your grief on Kristen's blog. It helps us know how to pray.
The Lord will carry you through day by day, and His mercy and lovingkindness will help to heal your hearts.
With love and prayers for the months and years to come.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I know that you each realize how blessed you have been by Kristen. Please know also that she has blessed so many through her blog during this painful process. Her insights and those of you, especially her children, who have added to the blog on days when Kristen couldn't, have enhanced my relationship with God and helped me see things so very differently. Such witnesses and testimonies! I also pray that at some point you will publish much of the blog with the insights that Kristen gained as she drew closer to her Maker. I pray for peace on those days when you will miss her terribly and a strong memory of all the wonderful times and experiences that you had. i pray that God will continue to use your testimonies as His witness as so many are still in the dark... but we know Kristen is in the Light today. Amen

I am so blessed to have taken two Bible Studies Kristen taught at our church. She showed me how important it is to go to your tent everyday to meet with the Lord. I now have a special place in my home and a special time in my day to do as she taught me. I especially loved it when she shared stories of the children growing up. She was an amazing Bible teacher. I greive with the family and rejoice with heaven.

I Love Kristen so deeply and therefore her precious husband and children, also... I was with my uncle when he died at 4:30 pm on his birthday and coincidentally the same day that Kristen met Jesus face to face. I am doubly grieved. LORD have mercy on us and comfort us all by your Holy Spirit. <

Although I barely knew Kristen, her love for her husband and children and her precious Savior, Jesus Christ, was evident to all and deeply touched lives including mine. Whether listening to her powerful teaching, her radio show, or reading her blog since being diagnosed with cancer, she has challenged me to savor every moment of life in good times and bad for the glory of God. Words cannot begin to comfort her family at this moment but I pray that God will hold them close during this time. Kurt and children, thank you for sharing Kristen with us and "God is our refuge and our strength. An ever present help in time of trouble." Psalm 46:1. Kristen was an amazing woman and can never be replaced on this earth but she is a PRECIOUS addition to heaven!

To my Brother Kurt whom I am humbled to know and to call my brother in Christ! I did not have the privilege in this this life to meet or talk with Kristen, but I can tell you that everyone that I come in contact with said that she truly Loved Christ with all her soul, mind body and spirit, she truly loved the Lord I'm told and that she loved her family with the same great passion. My Heart aches for you and for your family as well as we are rejoicing that she is pain free and resting in the arms of Jesus face to face. I love you my brother and you and your children are being lifting up in prayer during this time and what a beautiful life it is to celebrate you Soul mate and Best friend here on this Earth. Blessings to you all!!

Prayers are with you as you grieve, brother!

Kurt and Children.......Carolyn and I are very sorry Kristen has been taken away from you all, but she's in Heaven now experiencing what she has believed and taught and encouraged others to believe, so she's pain free and celebrating being with Jesus and if she had the choice, as much as she loved her family, she wouldn't come back, our prayers are with you all. Kristen was my student at Moody Bible Institute, a student whose mind and will were sharp, thoughtful and given to ministry and the will of God. I am deeply saddened by her passing both for the loss of her presence in ministry and with her family. May God be present to each one of you--she lived her life well and will not be forgotten.

Kristen was such a light. Both you Kurt & Kristen taught me so much. The last time I saw her was at the oncologist as we both go for treatment. She bodly grabbed me, hugged me tight and prayed in the middle of the waiting room. I Love her so much and think of her often. Prayers are with the entire Sauder family. I find peace knowing she is dancing with Jesus with that beautiful smile she loved to share. Thank you Kurt for sharing such a wonderful person with me. Kristen you are truly an angel on earth and now with our God.

Dear Sauder Family: Kristen is an angel now with The LORD in HEAVEN. Although our hearts are grieving Kristen is now beginning a new journey and new chapter in her life with THE LORD JESUS by her side. Always remember that someday you and the rest of GOD's children will meet with her someday and that we too will begin a new journey and a new chapter in our lives with no more suffering and no more pain. MAY GOD BE WITH ALL OF YOU and May GOD Bless you all and comfort you in your pain.
