Shively..As our chuch members called Him will surely be missed but not forgotten. I was glad to be able to attend the awake services and the wonderful homegoing celebration held at our family life center. I remember us cutting up when I or my boyfriend and I would give him rides home. That voice will be missed no one could sing like Shively. And no one could joke around and get away with saying things like only he could get away with. He was a wonderful, dedicated church worker who loved the church and God. He will always be remembered by me and my family. God bless you family and my continued prayers will be with you. Thank God for the wonderful memories you have.

I am sorry for your loss and praying for healing. I know that when I was a member of West Chestnut he would always make you laugh and would always smile! He will be missed.

I had the honor to sing with Shively as a member of the Zion Legion & You ng Adult Chorus. A very long time ago. I will always remember him singing His Yoke Is Easy. That's what I was hearing in my head once I was told he passed. I will miss him greatly. But I know heaven will never be the same. Shively, you are one of a kind.

My fondest memories of Shively is seeing him on Sunday Mornings singing in the choirs, especially with the Zion Legion Male Choir. His voice was so golden. He loved the Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ and he was serious about the worship experience. He was a great guy and he was a lot of fun to be around. He was a good servant. He will be missed by all who knew him, but he will never be forgotten.

I am honored to say I've had the opportunity to sing and worship with Shively. He was a original, and I have so many great memories with him in the Zion Legion and the Young Adult Choir. He was alway direct and honest and if you want to hear the truth he would say it, whether you liked the way it would come out or not. He was a role model and a friend. I will miss him. And I look forward to the day when we can all be in heaven together singing.

I remember Brother Shively's wonderful voice when I was a member of West Chestnut Street Baptist Church as a child. He could really sing! His voice was one of a kind. God bless the family at this time of sorrow. Thank you.

I will always remember, while being musician for the "Zion Legion Male Choir" the sincerity James had toward the group and church. Only he had the voice we all knew and loved.

To the Shively Family,
It was a shock to receive the news of Shively's homegoing. You are in my thoughts and prayers, know that God will sustain you. I imagine Shively is singing in another choir, "Since I Met Jesus," as only he could sing the song. I will also remember Shively as a cherished friend of our family for many years, we will miss him.
With heartfelt sympathy,

To the Shively,
When singing groups from WCBC and Mt.Olive sang together James was one of the group. He was a wonderful person with a great voice. I am sorry to hear of his passing and I am praying for the family.
