Bernard Trager Obituary

TRAGER, BERNARD A. SR., 91, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Four Courts of Cherokee Park.

Bernie was born June 13, 1921 in Louisville to the late Bernard A. and Catherine Hardy Trager. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II, member of the Highland American Legion #201, Heart Song Church, AARP Chapter #344, St. Agnes Catholic Church, and Golden Age Clubs at St. Elizabeth and Our Mother of Sorrows. He retired from Airco Carbide.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Hazelwood Trager; and his second wife, Marcelle Poppe Trager; a son, Bernard Trager Jr.; and a daughter, Nancy Jean Trager.

He is survived by his children, Tom Hazelwood (Becky), Patricia Coffman (Bernie), Caroline McCullom, and Sharon Trager; two stepsons, Lee Poppe (Madeline) and Donald Poppe; three sisters, Catherine Thonen, Margie Snodgrass, and Patricia Scroggins; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, "in St. Matthews".
