Shepherd, Rev. Robert O. (Pastor Bob),
Rev. Robert O. (Pastor Bob) Shepherd 79, was born June 4th, 1937 in Laconia, Indiana and returned to his heavenly father on January 24th, 2017.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Owen M. Shepherd and Frances Rice Shepherd of Laconia; his first wife of 55 years, Marilyn Kay Albin Shepherd, two son-in-laws, David Pierce and Roger Kintner, and a Step-Daughter, Lisa Keys.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Sharon R. Shepherd, formerly Sharon Irick, who was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. His four daughters, Malinda J. Lee (Larry), Samone D. Kintner, Lesa M. Cuningham (Jeff), Stephanie D. Smith (John), two sons Greg Taylor (Sharon), Bret Taylor (Theresa), and ten grandchildren Denise Olsen (Larry), Shawn Lee (Hope), Brandy Jo Green, Roberta Dixon (Jesse), Shawn Taylor (Nicole), Daniel Taylor, Crystal Warth, Travis Taylor, Travis Keys, Molly Keys, a sister Elaine Snyder (Carl), and a brother-in-law Ed Irick. Seven great grandchildren, Jacob Kintner, Abigail Woertz, Gunner Lee, Alice Mae Lee, Ava Poole, Mia Taylor, Logan Warth and many nieces and nephews.
Robert attended Asbury University, University of Louisville, Olivet Nazarene University and is a graduate of Liberty University.
Robert worked for Granger Company for 22 years, for Anaconda Aluminum for 13 years, and Eckert Supply Company for 6 years.
Robert enjoyed a ministry spanning 40+ years. He served as the Senior Pastor of the Parkwood Church of the Nazarene for 22 years. He also served as Senior Pastor in both Nazarene and United Methodist churches throughout Indiana, including Wesley Chapel UMC (Valley City), Marengo Christians Missionary Church, Milltown Church of the Nazarene, Georgetown Church of the Nazarene and Sliver Street UMC.
Robert, who was often referred to as the "Singing Preacher", provided us with a true example of loyal and dedicated Christian service. He will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Indiana. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at
